Talking Gravity

Here's a poem for you, a nice cliche rhyming one! Hope you enjoy.

Gravity

When I was much too young to know
Up was up and down was down
I tried to climb up on the stove
And gravity showed me the ground
I’d wailed and wailed when I was young
Because my bumps and bruises stung
Yet never overcame the need
To somehow defeat gravity

When I was 13, tall and thin
I scaled the branches of a tree
And threw myself into the wind
To see if that would set me free
But down I fell, into the lake
Where freezing water stung my face
And I was left to swim ashore
While gravity laughed all the more

When I was 18, brave and smart
I bought a kit at the hobby store
And made a glider part by part
To carry me off the earth’s floor
I ran in circles all that day
To see if I could fly away
But no wind came to lift my wings
The ground would not release my feet

When I was 23 and wise
I sat and spoke with gravity
I studied it through scholar’s eyes
To search for weakness I could see
Yet though I studied long and hard
I found no weakness to discharge
But even then I was not beat
I had one more trick up my sleeve

I took rope and a wooden plank
And made a swing set in a tree
And set my little girl on it
And swung her high for her to see
With each push up she came back down
But again I’d push her to the clouds
And said, “Though gravity got me,
I’ll show my girl what flying means.”

Thanks, Y!

It sounds nice, especially after reding a lot of mushy love poems people usually write.
Although I wonder how the boy ever lived to be over 13.

XD Heh, 'tis true, Mako-senpai. The poor fool was extremely lucky, I suppose.

To speak truth, I'd probably be posting sappy love poems too, but I have yet to fall in love so I'll have to hold off on that.
