I'm a poet and songwriter, as well as an English major. At this point, I couldn't stop analyzing and overanalyzing a work unless I die. It sucks not being able turn off the inner-critic sometimes.

Although, then again, sometimes I'm able to consider things from multiple viewpoints rather than my old biased one (not that I don't still have my biases). It's amazing how I can have the stupidest teacher on earth at university being suddenly critical of a non-major's work when she is so scatter-brained and using middle-school criteria she ought to think about what's coming out of her mouth instead.

I love reading though, too. Harry Potter has inspired me so much that if I can't make it as the next J.K. Rowling, I want to be a Rowlingian scholar.

I agree with HermioneRae! I too once suffered from self-criticism, until a friend of mine told me to stop taring myself down and take her word for it that what I share with her is perfectly fine. How's that for a punch in the gut and a pat on the head. XD

I absolutely LOVE reading, which is why I took up writing! I wanted to pass the love around a bit myself, ya know? I may not be amazing at it, but I enjoy it and I've been working hard. We'll see how much effort can make up for talent, I guess.

I enjoy reading and writing poetry. I haven't written anything in a long while though. I like Langston Hughes and Robert Frost.
