Default Science is a Religion

This is for satire purposes only!!! please i am a science person.. its for an informal essay assignment and ur comments will help me edit it. Its due wednesday oct 11.06

The 20th century began the age of massive conversions of thoughts from the religious world to the fast rising wave of modern science. DNA, penicillin, flu shots, polio, Quantum mechanics, you name it, brought about a new revolution that went unchecked, but to the frown of the clerics. Yet, the converted, who have come to conclude that science is logic and religion is just a mumbled bunch of crockery, are short-sighted. Science is the new and modern spiritual craze of today’s world drawing values from the old beliefs and preaching new ones.
The overstated defence of most non-believers is that I have not seen God, hence I cannot believe. Well, this commoner, who I can say with confidence possesses the limits of a grade 12 science class, probably never has seen through the naked eye a chemical reaction in which minute atoms break their bonds and form new ones. Nor do they see the electric holds of electrons on protons. If they argue that the technology of electron microscopes can let them see the abstract, any artist’s portrayal of angels and religious beings can also serve as a viewing tool for religion. It states in many religious scriptures that God cannot be seen by the naked eye and if the son of God stands for that point, I can hardly believe one would speak against that form of authority.
There are thousands of supporters for this stem cell research, for polio shots (which by the way is how the government controls you!) and they are all drowned in the belief that science is a saviour, when all it does is announce a new form of cancer every other year. Religion is strict, but I am sure that the nutritious diet laid out the by science world is oh so human friendly. Science is a belief in theory proven by human experiments under this world’s conditions. God is above time and space continuum and we find it hard to believe that there is someone higher on the life hierarchy than us. Psychological science explains the rebellious nature of humans, who rebel under control, and this scientific analysis just undoes science’s argument against religion, because it proves that we cannot sit quiet and accept the fact that there is an Omega that is drawing our lives to a certain extent. We have seen the examples in real life that people from parents to political leaders punish the unruly, and in all likelihood God will do the same. This proves my undefined point that God created us in his image, without endowing us with the ability to forgive.
Reading my biology book late night before a test, I could not help but be intrigued by this line, “Life will come to an end, stars and suns will stop shining, and all concentrations of free energy will eventually disintegrate. Chaos will reign supreme.” (Giuseppe, 2003) Interestingly, all science ever does is mention the end of world to get our attention. Hello! Have you not seen this type of control used in your religion? Global warming, extinction, the increase in entropy, the sun blowing up (of the atrocities they could think up!) are just forcing us to stop polluting and mold ourselves to a set of rules… remind anyone of the 10 commandments? You must conserve is their message and the conservative ideology promotes religion.
The remaining believers can say religion has not proven itself correct all the time. Well, until 1512 with the voyage of Ferdinand Magellan, all our ancestors loved the idea of a flat earth. Was that science not proven wrong and changed? Similarly religion was also changed and modified to correct its own errors. God is perfect, his messengers clearly aren’t. We had demigods then Son of God, then the last prophet all bringing the same but a newer version of religion. It is like Microsoft, always a newer, better version... but still prone to viruses. Science cannot explain how the Big Bang happened and these shortcomings are similar to the emphasized shortcomings seen in religion.
Religion requires you to believe in the unknown, or an idea that is not logical. Well, science or some aspects of it wants you to believe in intelligence life in space, i.e. aliens. Aliens! We have never seen one apart from a well marketed movie or out of our fantasies. Yet, here we have tax money invested in the 70’s for alien research in North America. A few thousands years ago we had tax money given for religion i.e. from the Greek Gods to the Catholic Church.
Does science not provide the tools for a higher level of warfare for the extremists? There are wars and hostilities just on the idea of nuclear weapons. Does science not spawn hemp loving crazies who go around destroying furs and doing property damage? Another point is that religion has its clerics and priests and whatnots preaching their message. I believe science has coined its parsons, scientists. They even have their own magazine entitled: Popular Science.
Science is the new religion because to everybody, there is a "better" way of life and given the points that it has a mass following with a belief; it has theories and eventually ends up predicting an apocalypse; it produces the basis for the rise for extremists, science is the new thought. When one power is stronger, the stronger one forces the weaker to adapt to their respective scientific views or religion. It is the new member of the different morals you despise yet hold dear.

This was interesting to read. Since you say it is an informal essay then I guess it is good as is. But your second-to-last paragraph should include examples of extremism by religious fanatics.

In all a good effort, check your subject verb agreement and use of punctuation marks. 'eg.the age of massive conversions of thoughts from the religious world' remove the s from conversion's'.

Please read over your essay ^^
