I'm going to start 3rd year. Studing at College is quite stressful. It's matter of strong will and determination.

yeah everybody told me that college was way easier that high school and there was a lot of fun and partying... well the parties i've been to were LAME... and i study the majority of the day. the only time i have for fun is the weekends... so far the most fun i've done was going to the ice cream shop a few blocks down and going to downtown on the max even though i've been there millions of times.

Oh..college life is really tough.

especially if you went to a college miles away from your home. but it gets better don't worry...just enjoy these moments for now...

here's some ways how you can save money:

1. join an organization. Yeah it takes more time but you'll be exposed to a lot of people that can help you out with your english paper for example. Bonus! Food trip with your orgmates will be free...cause oh well its org funds...

2. live as close to tour campus as possible.

3. Buy in bulk. And take the chance when you go shopping with your dad. (>_<)

4. Get good grades. So that you always have a prize from your parents.
When I qualified for dean's list last year I got an all-expense paid trip to a popular beach here in my country.

I would have to agree with some of the previous posts. Parties in college are just extensions of high school and the "thrill" of not doing things you're supposed to do (doing this will only hurt what you want to do, unless you just want to be a partier, and then by all means, do what you gotta do). Usually the best times you'll have are with friends and classmates that you chill with (our rant about hw and profs). Those are times that you'll remember and will help you grow with contacts (you'll never know what you need in the future).

I kinda see college as a contact builder because you're getting to know people from various fields and whatever you may need some day might be at your disposable for being good pals or classmates even. The biggest difference from high school to college is that you learn to work in a community with people than discriminating based on differences and popularity (if you find the not-retarded people).

And of course, the best concoction for getting through those late night studying sessions is caffiene and pizza.

And yes, books ARE a b*tch. That happens wherever you go, b/c before long, even the used books look devastating to your bank account. But, remember those contacts I mentioned? Yesh, some ppl just have money and can get those books. Usually ppl are more than happy to share the book (usually within eye length, lol) with you. Perhaps organize study sessions to get your hands on the book and get the info you need.

But hey, hang in there. I know you can make it.

Lightbulb Re: Is Anyone in College?

I am in my Junior year of college and being broke is part of the fun! But all you have to do is make sure you really do well and pay attention in your classes. You never know what may come in handy when you get out and start working in your field of study.

Yea, I know what you mean. It is hard to get out and have fun. (and they said that college was a time to party . . . if you consider partying studying then I guess they were right.)
