School -> why do we need it?

i dont really know, the only thing that can help you reach your goal is actually going to college to get your degree in whatever you want to do. Elementary, MS and HS are probably something like training school to get you ready for that. anyways, being educated with knowledge is probably a blessing. or so, thats what they all say. XD

School is a form of social control. It trains you to approach problems and to think in a specific way. Unless you have a teacher that allows you to think for yourself it can be quite limiting.

I am not saying that it is pointless. I just don’t think that the standardized learning is the best method. Learning used to allow for more of an open ended education, but with our population growth, we have to sacrifice quality for quantity.

sure, you CAN learn stuff... but the stuff you learn aren't actually all that useful. And teachers aren't really that smart (at least not in 50%+ of schools). Seriously, i used to have a math teacher who dropped math in high school.

recently i graduated. i've "learned" a lot... most of which don't enhance my perception of things, are politically motivated, and can be more concisely and broadly explored through the internet or self-learning etc.

Well if you want you can stay home and learn stuff but then you need someone suitable qualified and dedicated to teach you....not very practical these days though.

i think school is good if we want to make friends but when it comes to learning,I have to disagree.My dream is to be a fashion designer and nothing i learn in sch teaches me tat and most of teachers are horrible and i can have at least 4 diff. eng. teacher in a year.and u know wad?they are just wasting my time.Seriously,the sch spents an hour teaching us moral values but these values were just the same as wad we learn in pri sch.How many of us actually go out and help an old man cross the street or meet diff. culture ppl everytime.For 14 yrs of my life,I have never spoken to an indian
