I've watched the series all in dubbed but I've seen a few clips subbed. The dub isn't that bad if you started out with it, but I do admit, "Ororororoorororo~?" sounds a lot better than whatever the English version does.

The dub, and the Cartoon Network edit, practically killed any hope of having Kenshin fans (in any major way) in North America.

I have no idea about American edits (though I'm shocked of what they are n ot editing out in Naruto which features children, yet they take out of One Piece where at least the characters are adults).

But unless you get to some of the Adult Swim dubs, too many dubs just hire people without any warnings of what characters they are speaking for. Theyd on't even give them copies of the friggin animes they are going to speak for. Usually after 3 days after being told they are hired, they are thrown, alone, in a small booth and start giving dialogue about characters they hardly even know. (I got this info from some american voice actors during a meet and great at Shojo Con).

There is no way of putting together something good under those conditions.

If you have the chance, try to rewatch the first few episodes of Inu-Yasha as compared to the episodes some seasons later. Vast improvements, as the voice actors finally have time to find their characters.

And for those of you who like the Ghost in the Shell SAC dubs, because I do as well, that is becuase they are using the same voice actors from the movie. And since the movie was brought to the US to make money, they actually took the TIME to indoctrinate the actors, letting them get to know the characters and each other -- let alone putting together a good translation. I was very happy to see they kept the same personal both for the TV series, and at least one of the video games.

I don't know what it's like in america and everywhere else but in the Netherlands dubbed is awful!! It's as if the producers only have a handful of voiceactors, so with every single anime that makes it to the screen you hear the same voices!! >_< It makes me not want to watch dubbed...
