Do you mean if Kenshin had never met Tomoe and had just continued as an assassin, or if he were to have killed someone during the series, thus breaking his vow?
If he had never met Tomoe, he probably would have ended up like Udo Jinei. Kenshin himself said, "If a man kills too many for too long, he loses his original purpose and has his heart stolen by the color and scent of blood." This is what was already starting to happen to him when he met Tomoe. "Everything I drink tastes like blood."
If Kenshin were to have broken his vow and killed during the series, he would have snapped and lost all the good that Tomoe and his ten years of wandering had taught him. As Hiko said, "You will be plunged into an abyss of solitude and confusion and you will kill again."
