When i am filled with air i float, but when i am filled with sand i sink.

a boat maybe because the displacement would sease to be greater than its own weight..

all i can think of is hot air balloon but that doesn't have anything to do with sea...hmmm

lol.... this riddle can be linked to any kind of object... I fail to see any kind of way to find something special that would fit this riddle perfectly. As Most objects, smaller than boats who actually use ballasts to maintain buoyancy, BUT, it says that it is filled, and balasts are aonly placed at the bottom of the boat, and does not fill it. So, any kind of container can fit the riddle.

ooh, there is a trpe of shell that floats...drat, whats the name. i think the Janthiana. it makes bubbles of air and floats on top of the sea. when the shell dies, it sinks and is filled with sand, or fills with sand if it is washed near shore.
