I'm going to take a wild guess and say Marco Polo. Because polo makes me think of a shirt and I believe he was an explorer. At his time if clothes were blue
eating them may have been toxic. Therefore he may have tried to eat his shirt and actually succeeded "he had a blue shirt" is past tense so, and then he promptly died. Well maybe not prombtly x_x

ok so something died-perished-disappeared
the storms could indicate water-trouble-or war maybe...
trees=life..but the desert also equals that absence
ok back to be alone..again
blue shirt could mean water,air,
and poison could be environment or biological..
hmm i could be a planet, earth ... no maybe Mars because it did have water once... but it dried...and the high leveles of CO would easlt poison... ah bugger i say its a Planet
