hotel riddle

3 men go and rent a room in a hotel for 30 dollars. Each person pays 10 dollars. Later the hotle manager decides to give them a 5 dollar discount. The 3 men divide the money, each recieivng 1 dollar. This would make them pay 9 dollars each(3x9=27). They gave the last 2 dollars to the bell boy as a tip.(27+2=29) where did the last dollar go?

And the answer. It should be 27 - 2 = 25. So they paid $25

Yeah, I double posted, but did you notice they are identical? Clearly that proves it was just a glitch, especcialy since you can't post an identical post until 5 minutes after the previous one. The post difference was one minute.

You did the math backwards. They paid 30 dollars 10 each. They got a 5 dollar discount - each taking a dollar back ( each paid 9) but there was 2$ left. 30 -27=2 (The tip)

I've heard this riddle a lot from people and I think the math is all wrong so there is no last dollar.
