I think a friend told me before, but ill try my best to retell it. well, if he didnt see the sawdust, Im assuming he is blind. I think sawdust is mostly used for pets (I have a hamster ) but in a circus, lions and tigers dont need that, so the sawdust came from elsewhere. The man has a wooden leg, and the saw dust came from termites eating at the leg. Afterall, it is a trailer, which can easily cause such problems. The man starting thinking that he was getting shorter. As part of the circus, he knows that he would lose his job, so he kills himself. He is blind, so he didnt know that he has termites eating his leg.
I think it was something like that. Not sure if it is right.

the saw dust was an indication that the blade was slicing... and if you never saw the evidence of the blades action then you might be split in twain i guess
