Re: Story Contest for Mhanus the Human
Born into royalty, Mhanus new nothing other then riches and fame. Being the only son of a powerful king, he was trained at an early age how to rule a kingdom. Although his training was nearly complete when his father fell valiantly in battle, he was not yet fit to rule the mighty kingdom of the humans. But the laws prevailed and he was crowned king of all humans. For the first few years of his rule, everything went well, and the human civilization prospered. After feeling the power of a king, Mhanus wanted more, a lot more.
He started out slowly raising the taxes of his kingdom, and found that he still didn't have all the money he wanted. He began to claim all gold mines as his own, and murdering annyone who resisted him. Rebellions soon broke out within the kingdom, but were quickly put out by the massive armies Mhanus had built. Mhanus's rule was peaceful no more.
As if it was a punishment, a war had broken out between the four races, Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Orcs, and Mhanus was faced with another, much larger problem then minor rebellions. He was faced with war! But being the arogant tyrant king he had become, Mhanus once again incresed the taxes on his people, but using his brilliant mind, he created a new law, that stated: "All men whom join my armies will be rewarded with the excemption from taxes, and thier families protected when they are away."
The people, with virtually no other choice, were forced to send many of thier men to battle. Mhanus's armies swelled. He now had the largest army that the human race had ever mustered. The Humans were ready for war!
As Mhanus's armies marched to the fierce battles, they conquered many small towns, raiding them for all thier riches, and enacting outrageous taxes on the villages.
Surely, the humans will win the war... or will they?*
Due to limit of 1 short paragraph, I have written a smaller story;
Born the son of a powerful king, Mhanus knew nothing more then riches and fame. When Mhanus was still a young man, his father died valiantly in battle, leaving him to rule the kingdom. With his lack of knowledge on how to manage the kingdom, he began to raise taxes to fulfill his own desires. This caused manny rebellions, but the taxes held. As if a punishment on Mhanus, a war broke out between the 4 races of Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Orcs, and Mhanus was forced into lowering taxes and forceing people into his armies. Soon, his army was larger then any former human army. Surely, the Humans would be the winnes of this war, or would they ? *
