My first MMO would've been a text-based game called Trade Wars, run over the BBS system that predated the Internet as we know it now.

I miss it muchly.

ULTIMA ONLINE!...what a badass game. Ability to own houses, kill one another, and actually adventure in dungeons was simply amazing. If Diablo qualifies as an MMORPG then it would be that, which was also pretty revolutionary minus the housing and the world wasn't truely "massive". Everquest was my first 3d MMORPG and that was equally as exciting.
