Some people spend their whole day--and perhaps lifetime--in front of their computers doing nothing but playing Mediwar. I respect your dedication, but get a life! :P
Anyway, I always have very busy days; most of the time I work, attend classes, study, and do other stuff. Whenever I have breaks, I would go to computer labs either to bank or buy weapons. Otherwise, I hardly have any other time to spend on the game. Hence, I have proposed several useful tips for those who are always on the run (the ones who actually have lives and will be successful in their future careers--or maybe not).
GENERAL STRATEGIES FOR ALL RACES
1. After registering an account, the first thing you should do is click your unique link (in Command Center page). This will give you one soldier. You can either train it to be an Attack Specialist, a Defense Specialist, or a Spy. However, you may leave the soldier untrained, as it will count toward both your Strike Action (SA) and Defense Action (DA) but not Covert Action (DA). It is recommended that this soldier be left untrained so power will be distributed equally to both SA and DA.
2. The most important element in the game is the recruiting of soldiers. There are many methods of gaining soldiers. Most people register in Yarold's (because most people already know about it, I will not explain what it is; if you don't know, find out in this website:
http://yarold.ath.cx/swle/main.php). If you click in Yarold's or buy credits there, you will gain soldiers in no time. You may also want to join or create a clickmaster (again most are already familiar with it, so I will not explain what it is), ask friends and family members to click your links in instant messengers (AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, etc.), post your link in your website (if you have one), or employ any other methods you think are helpful. However, it is important that you follow MediWar's rules regarding where and how to post your link, as well as how and how not to click your link. The more soldiers you can recruit, the more income you will make. Income is especially important in the beginning of the game; you need gold to upgrade siege and fortress technologies, spy levels, Unit Production, and buy/train soldiers & mercenaries. Note that spies do not contribute to income. Nevertheless, you want to spend most of your income in upgrading Unit Production, since with more soldiers you can make even more income. One note of caution when upgrading nothing but Unit Production in the first two weeks of the game: Make sure you also achieve relatively competitive Defense Action and Covert Action. A strong DA will limit attacks on you, and a high CA will help against most recon missions by elves. But if you are able to check your account more often than you thought, then you may ease on the DA and the CA and focus primarily on upgrading UP.
3. It is generally a good idea to not use any attack turns in the beginning of a MediYear. The amount of gold that you can attack for at this early stage is usually very little. Hence, it will be wasteful to attack for such small lumps of gold; you should save your attack turns until a week or so into the game, when there are more gold available. As for me, I usually let my attack turns accumlate to more than 1,000 before I even consider attacking or recon for gold.
4. When training soldiers, you want to train a disproportionately greater amount of attack and defense specialists (or simply leave them untrained) than spies. Again, attack and defense specialists (and untrained soldiers) contribute to both income and power, but spies do not contribute to income. But if your are greedy or are paranoid of elves reconning your gold, then you may want to train more spies. As a rule of thumb, never train more than 15% of your soldiers as spies in the beginning of the game.
5. Work together with friends or alliance members, since they may have different races. For instance, if you are an orc with a very high SA but a very low CA, you may want to ask a friend who is an Elf with a very high CA to help you spy for the right person to attack. However, it is highly recommended that you maintain a very high, competitive CA, since it is very crucial for success in the game.
6. Whatever is your strength, work on it. You did not choose a certain race for no reason. For instance, if you're an orc, you may want to dedicate much of your effort into making your SA as high as possible. This will allow you to have a higher range of players to attack. Same goes for other races. However, do not--I repeat: do not--work on solely one area. This is highly discouraged, since you do not want any weaknesses. Besides, every area (SA, DA, CA) counts toward your overall ranking.
7. Do not limit yourself. For instance, do not attack only people who are offline. You'll be surprise to find that even active people will have out gold, since they'll attack or recon for gold, and before they can bank, you can snatch it from them. Do not spy on only players with large army sizes. It is true that they make a lot of income, but it is also true that they are farmed most often. Hence, the average person will look for them to attack first. This leaves the unattractive players with small or moderate army sizes. You'll be very surprise that many of these people are actually the ones with the most gold available to be attacked for. So spy well and endlessly until you find the perfect victim to attack or recon.
8. Create a farm list. Usually the players who you attack most often are the ones who really does always have out gold. Do not become discouraged by threatening or discouraging personal messages sent by them to you. You are only farming them to maximize the amount of gold you get from an attack or a recon: your intention was never personal.
9. Try to buy the strongest weapons and as few as possible of the weakest, cheapest weapons. You get more strength for your gold by buying the stronger weapons.
10. When you need to upgrade a research level, no longer do you have to watch your back when selling weapons. The gold goes directly to your bank, so think carefully before selling your weapons. Sell strategically.
11. After attacking or reconning for gold, it is better to bank the gold than buy weapons if you want to use it immediately to upgrade a research. Never let your gold accumulate to a large amount when you attack or recon because someone may sting you and steal your gold. However, if your intention was to buy weapons, then buy them. But remember that when you want to sell them, you lose 20% of what you spent to buy them. When you bank, you lose only 15% of your gold.
12. Recruit friends or other players to become your officer. For every 2 clicks given to an officer, you will receive 1 full click. It might not sound like much once you upgrade to a very high Unit Production, but it does help him the beginning of the MediYear. More soldiers equals more income, etc.
13. Never be intimidated by the battlefield (e.g. Capital, Borders, Battlefield) you are in. Always give it your best shot. In addition, study your surroudings. You should play at your own pace while checking the progress of other players in your battlefield. For instance, always check the median army size, SA, DA, and CA of the top players, so that you will not fall behind in the game.
14. More will be added as see fit.
Whew! What an exhaustive list. The funny thing is that I don't think I have listed everything I wanted to say. Oh well, I will add some more later.
