Why do you think Kaede talks so old fashioned saying "ye" and "thou"? Kikyou doesn't, nor does anyone else - old or young!

A lot of the townsfolk talk like that, too, so I think they're just trying to imitate old-style speech, because they're supposed to be in a different era when they talked differently. They're trying to imitate olde english, like how they used to talk a couple hundred years ago...I think...

But if that's true then why doesn't Kikyou talk the same way. She's her older sister. It's just something that drives me nuts about Kaede. Every time she opens her mouth I ask myself why can't she talk decently!

The creator of Inuyasha probably got her to talk in that fashion to emphasize how wise and experienced she is. Methinks!

Yes but so was Kikyou. In fact Kikyou was older that's why I don't get it. i'm glad to know that the Japanese isn't like that.
