a tail? Really? Then did his dad have a double tail because I think he had two long ones. Somebody said it was his mother's pelt and that is just EIUW!

its a fur type thing that ancient lords in fuedal japan would wear to show they were a higher rank. It shows he is a lord and he likes it that way. it doesnt really have a purpose...

the fur that signifies a member of the Great Inu Youkai family... only those who are full-fledged Inu (dog) demons have such fur like Inu Taisho (Inuyasha's and Sesshoumaru's father) and Sessy-sama... Inuyasha-sama doesnt have since he's a hanyou

so while he does have the white hair, Inuyasha has no nice fur like his older half-brother and father...
