Amateur dan players?

Well, i have heard of people who are rated as 1 dans and 3 dans at some high schools but I guess amateur dan players aren't the same as pros...I mean what do you guys think about dan players in high school or middle school? Do you think they could compete with pros, is the rating the same?

Yeah, I think the amateur dan players are weaker because they don't devote their whole life to Go, but still they are really strong. I played an amateur 3 dan once and I didn't know until after the game was over, so of course I lost by like 100 points.

I think it's ridiculious that they skip school to play Go.
If there professionals, i can understand.

missing class to play GO is weird......its kinda kool too....
i've watch people play the game and even played it myself but it really is a hard game...

Well, I've been trying to learn to play a little and maybe play with other players online. Nobody in my school play go.
