i am sorry i am confuse when people talk about manga. it is like comics or like anime figures. can some one fill me in here.

Most anime series are based on the original manga. It is a graphic (picture) novel originating from Japan. The authors are called Mangaka and they sit in stuffy little rooms and work their tails of to keep us amused. Do a google search for Manga News, they have oodles of information.

Manga is just like comic. It has no colour and it is usually ahead of anime. Every anime has a manga produced 1st.

Yeah, just as they said, the Manga is a sort of comic book, although it's more like a graphic novel than what we would call 'comics' at least in the United States. They are usually bound into volumes of about 200 + pages or released in weekly/monthly serial magazines then bound into those volumes. Most mangas differ at least slightly from the anime of the same name. The FMA manga differs greatly in storyline than from the anime, it's pretty much two separate plots.

also just a heads-up that not all anime are based on manga. Examples: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Millenium Actress, Spirited Away, Paranoia Agent, Tokyo Godfathers ...
