Akito a male or female?

In some sites I've seen, they say that she's a girl and other sites they say she's a boy, which is true? I haven't seen the anime but read the manga and to me, it looks like Akito is a guy. Can someone help me?

in the anime, i think akito is a guy, but they messed it up somehow cuz int he manga akito turns out to be a girl.. whcih might be why they'd have trouble making a second season...

Yeah, in the manga Akito is actually a girl. I'm curious as to what they will do with Akito's gender in the anime. But my opinion is that Akito is a guy in the anime.

Well I've only seen the anime, I've never read the manga, and in the anime Akito is DEFINATELY a boy. Or maybe a girl with a flat chest and an extremely deep voice. I'onno. o_o Anything's possible I guess.

Now if there is a screwup in that the Manga has it different...well, that's just a screwup.

Although, it does seem to run in his family. Remember the episode where Yuuki was put in a dress to attract people to his class's rice ball booth?
And then there is the char who is the Monkey. He, again, was confused to be female....
