Oddly enough, I've read all the Lord of the Rings trilogy except Fellowship, and I've read the Hobbit. I liked the Hobbit and the Return of the King the best.

I havent read the hobbit book. Actually i didnt even read the lord of the rings. I tried couple times but i got tired on the halfway and couldn't finish it. It's somehow boring, but the movies were great.

I really liked the Lord of the Rings concept but I think seeing the stupid movies first kind of turned me off to the idea of reading any of the books(now whenever I read them all I can think is "hey when does this happen?" and "why didnt this happen?" the movie kind of ruined it for me)

Tolkien is definitely one of my top favourite writers. If I was send to a deserted island with only his book, or only The Lord of the Rings, I wouldn't mind at all (...going back soon . He is one of those authors worth reading.
