she commited a crime [lending her power to a human being] so Renji had to attack her. I think Renji "could" have a thing for Rukia, but rukia has her heart for Shiba Kaien. this is way long before she met Ichigo.

They're childhood friends, but Renji might feel more for Rukia than that. Rukia probably doesn't feel that way though.

Well There are some Childhod friends who tend to fall for each other, but I think Renji and rukia are a different case...
