If you really think you want a long-term relationship, then tell him before someone else does... I've made that mistake before >.< However, if it is a crush, and you're really not sure, you would be better to just get on with it, and make the very most of your friendship...
I mean, if you're friends, he wouldn't simply stop talking to you. If he knows you, he will understand... etc, etc... I'm really bad with advice, as my eprsonal experieces have been... well, crap. But I've got some good friendships out of them, which really, I think I would rather have as friends, now...

Anyways, about these terms, its always a gamble!!! If you are to tell him (well you're a girl right!?) & it turned out nice then good... If bad, then its bad!!! Really!!! Well unless he really is a true friend, then you could still be on the safe zone!!!

The real question might be, are you more willing to gamble your friendship, or are you more willing to gamble for your heart??? Once you can answer that, you got the answer to your question!!!
