It totally depends on how much space the girl gives.

I usually give this choice to the girl itself, a place where she is comfortable to talk with me. But ofcourse I will make sure that the place is not much distracting for her to loose attention from me.

Ideal place will be a park, a nice restaurant or a queit beach!

Good restaurants with nice environment (not those cheap fastfoods lol).
Movies or night clubs are good too.
Before it gets dark, a walk in a peaceful environment can set a tone
Then again it depends on the girl, too

I would go to a movie of her choice for 1st date and then let her chose whatever she wants. maybe once and a while i would suggest something

well i tend to get to know them online. since all of my gfs go to another school. then the first is usually a movie. then all the following ones are really up to her. im not really that assertive so it doesnt matter either way

Okay, first of all, I always pick the date. Isn't that what a man is supposed to do anyway? My first 'date' is always going for a cup of coffee, and if that goes well, then I'll choose another place of interest.
