We ended up breaking up because of another issue. He thought I did not respect his major because I would eventually earn more in mine than his. However, we are both still very good friends and we've both gotten new significant others which is working out very well. (at least for me it is )

Well everyone is bound to suffer feelings of insecurity, althought it may be sudden, and even if it is a silly thing and they have no base for such incertainty, but it happens and they dont feel right unless they speak up to their partner and to hear from their mouths nice and reassuring words, thats what i noticed in some of my friends anyway

The answer to this is absolutely easy. This guy has probably had a girl 'fake' a relationship and play him in the past. This has left him very insecure about himself, and his relationship with you. What do you do about it?? Well, there is really nothing you can do but keep reassuring him that you love him and have A LOT of patience. Good luck.
