Re: First impression of opposite genders
I'm a guy. I have to admit, overall appearance does matter quite a bit. When I was in high school, appearance of some female classmates turned me off. Some were fat AND had garishly awful hair color and no sense of fashion. Some overdid on makeup, some stank of cigarette smoke. But there was someone who did manage to pull it off - funky hair color, bohemian/goth style clothes, heavy makeup, etc. She did make sure that every detail is right. The color of the hair may have been funky, but the hair had a healthy shine and bounce to it. The clothes sat well on her, and her silhouette was actually quite curvy and attractive. Her hair was short, but healthy and well-styled. She did sometimes wear heavy makeup, but it fit well with the rest of the appearance, and did not appear overdone. And she did not reek of smoke or cosmetics. And oh, yeah, she was smart enough to be in my calculus class my junior year of high school. My first impression of her was, 'wow, funky girl!', not exactly someone I'd immediately want to approach for a date, but... She was a perfectly decent classmate, with a pretty cool personality.
