Re: Ask Darren
the reason y you are recieving that pop-up message is because microsoft released a "high" piorirty update called WGA Notifications (KB905474).
basically it scan your OS and reports back to microsoft, if it is determine your OS is a pirate version then those message will appear. it is also known to give a lot of false positives (real version of windows declared fake).
Quote:
Official Way to Remove WGA Notifications
Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrative permissions. Make sure that the WGA Notifications version that exists on the computer is a pilot version that range from 1.5.0527.0 to 1.5.0532.2 (Note: other versions should works too). To find the WGA Notifications version, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add or uninstall Programs, locate and then click Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications, and then click Click here for support information.
3. In the Support Info dialog box, verify the version number, and then click Close.
4. Rename the following files by changing the extension to .old:
Rename %Windir%\system32\WgaLogon.dll to %Windir%\system32\WgaLogon.old
Rename %Windir%\system32\WgaTray.exe to %Windir%\system32\WgaTray.old
5. Restart the computer.
Unregister LegitCheckControl.dll by using Regsvr32 with these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
2. At the command prompt, type the following, and then press ENTER:
Regsvr32 %Windir%\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll /u
3. Restart the computer.
Once your computer boots up again:
1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
2. At the command prompt, delete the following files by typing the Del command and follow by pressing ENTER after you type each command.
Del %Windir%\system32\wgalogon.dll
Del %Windir%\system32\WgaTray.exe
Del %Windir%\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll
3. At the command prompt, type regedit.
4. Locate and then right-click the following registry subkeys. Click Delete after you locate each subkey.
* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\ CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\WgaLogon
* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\ CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\WgaLogon
* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion\removeremove\WgaNotify
5. Restart the computer.

Other methods are listed here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/0...ns-nag-screen/
Then you can dl a WGA crack which fools any WGA checks on your computer to think that you have a genuine version

Re: Ask Darren
Hey darren I need to ask a question. Will internal dvd writers last long if you dont enclose it in a 5.25 enclosure? And which one would be a better buy? An internal dvd writer or external one? And also which brand offers good but cheap(important factor here) dvd writers to your experience?

i dun think it will have any effect but you will be better off enclosing it since it would be a pain to open up the computer case each time to connect the drive to a spare ide connector in your comp

wether you choose an internal or external dvd writer depends on how you will use it. if you are only going to use it on one comp only then you are better off buying an internal drive if you can. external drives are only useful when you need to use the burner on multiple computers.
if you want an external drive look at buying a internal drive and an enclosure for it over buying a pre-made external drive as you can save a bit of money.

well i havent tested out many brands of writers so i cant give you a definite answer, but i am currently using a BenQ DW-1640 and i got it for $66 AUD; and it performs pretty well
if you want a more indepth review of writers and discs then go to this site:

What about honesty. Thats mine, I think. Can't have a kind person, if he's deceiving you at the same time.

Re: Ask Darren
that is important too, there are many ideal virtues that a person should have
your environment and upbringing determines which of them you believe in
