Welcome.
And I'll feel better once I know that they work alright.

Yes, I got my bento box! I've made a few lunches, I do it the night before when I have time. We have a microwave at my school, but I try to mostly pack things that don't need to be heated or frozen, and can be eaten at room temperature. It's really fun.
*blinks*
That's farther then I ever got with Japanese cuisine. Other then curry, it was mostly prepacked items like mushi pan, senbei, etc.

And now you are doing the anime-infamous taking-much-time-to-prepare bento-ing? Or are you just offering yourself as the main protagonist for some future manga?
Quote:
The cherry bento box I got has two tiers, the upper one has a divider.
Here are some pictures, the first two bentos are ones I made in tupperware before my actual bento box arrived:
Oh, very nice.

BTW, important piece of advice:
Try to always store the band into the pouch while you eat.
Losing the band happens a lot, because it doesn't seem too important while you are hungry. But even in Japan, those are lost frequently.

Quote:
This is the first, kind of pathetic one where I was experimenting.
One half, with meatballs, broccoli, mandarin oranges, and space for the cream puff I put in in the morning.
Pathetic she says....

FIRST:
Look at how healthy you eat!!!
Broccoli!! And mandarin oranges!!
Do you know how %&^#$% hard it is for me to eat vegetables, let alone fruits??
*sighs* And especially to eat something as nutritious as broccoli...I just cannot do it yet.

So even forget about cookin' 'em.

Quote:
The other half, white rice with spices and a heart made of edamame beans:
You even can spice up white rice? (the best I can do is adding montary jack cheese on top of it). Let alone a healthy bean addition (and you even had time for a heart. )

You might call it 'pathetic', but to me that even looks nice visually.
Best I can do is make sure what I eat doesn't glop into each other.

Quote:
And when I learned more about spacing and packing tightly:

Turkey/lettuce/cheese wrap, orange slices, pasta salad (I had a side container with italian dressing), cherry tomatoes, mini cornbread muffins, a hard boiled egg with a face, and two pieces of candy
.
Again, that's a good healthy mix.
....and now I'm hungry.

And you are right, the first pictures were just fine...but this last one your packing is even better (I admit....sometimes I don't think the Japanese eat enough as their bentos' are so small.....that's when I realize that I eat too much.).
And now I'm hungry!!
Quote:
Yeah, yeah, bentos typically don't include desserts, but whatever. =P
*hehs* Even though you are right...doesn't matter. I like dessert too.
Quote:
Then, my one in my new bento box, which isn't elaborate as I threw it together in like 5 minutes top, I was tired.
STill...not a bad job in 5 minutes.
In about 5 minutes I can make a P&B sandwich, throw in a drink, pour some milk into a transporting carrier, add 2 granola-like-bars, and then throw a handful of baby carrots into a sandwich bag. Not exactly gourmat, as mostly is already prepackaged.

Quote:
Chicken salad, little rolls to put it on, grapes, and after I took the picture I added a few grape tomatoes and cheese cubes. Simple, but delicious =D
*shakes his head* I'm still envious about you being able to eat straight tomatoes. I've tried...can't do it. And they are so healthy for you.
But the rest....*yum*.

Quote:
Sorry the pics are huge, I'm WAY too lazy to resize tonight.
*laughs*

No problems....hope you don't mind me eliminating them for space concerns. Since you took the pictures I'll assume you'll know what I'm referring to.

BTW, any updates for your Ohayocon trip?
And how much more have you tried with your Bento?

I'm sure the majority of people dislike running into doors xP
Here's a list of my favories bands:

The Hush Sound
A7X
Breaking Benjamin
HIM

Kill Hannah
Miyavi
Nickelback
Paramore
Seether
RJA
Shiny Toy Guns

Yuuji:

My bentos generally take a bit of time, because I often end up doing things like making the muffins, etc. But really, I don't often stay for lunch, so I don't make them much. I normally make them Sunday nights, because I stay after school for a club on Monday. But this week I didn't because I was sick.

I try to eat healthy! It helps that the only fruit I've ever tried that I disliked, was mangoes, so it's not hard in that aspect. I love going places and finding things I haven't tried. Like today for example, my mom and I went to Jungle Jim's, a huge international market. I got a few new things, and some old favorites. In addition to a ton of Japanese snacks, I got Asian pears again. They are delicious, really crisp. I also got pomegranate, a persimmon, and rambutans... weird fruit that look like peeled grapes once you take the skin off.

I made another bento tonight. This is the cold tier, it has broccoli, carrots, tomato, ranch, and pomegranate seeds. I can't wait until my new bento stuff arrives, I got silicon baking cups to help keep the food away from each other, and some sauce containers that would've come in handy today.

And then here's the other tier, which I will be reheating once lunchtime rolls around. It's got cheeseburger, baked beans, and potato underneath.

Yum!

Let's see. I'm definitely going, I know that, haha.
I don't really know much more than that =P

Also, I have a job interview Monday for Target!

*remembers yuuji is going to ohayocon*

lol @ me

I wanted to tell kate this so I guess I'll post it here, I put in for the 2 days off that I need to make the trip.

I have almost talked myself into not being afraid to fly, lol.

I'm going to get myself exact directions for the airport here, and the one there/to the con, and have them printed out.

I also decided I'll likely just take apart my guitar and have it checked, in 2 pieces and bubble wrap and in sturdy luggage it will be fine, I'll likely just carry on my amp, clothes and personal items (mp3 player, camera...) since they should all fit in the space required by the airlines.

I'll need to buy some luggage, and locks for it, or self locking.

Anyways, thats all, I'm sick and eating ice cream for my sore throat, haha, I'll ttyl kate/yuuji.

*nods* That's what I found out...really didn't realize how long it took to make food. Especially good food. But I had to stop eating fast food...so...

I can only hope I start enjoying cooking enough that I don't mind spending the time. Same way I got used to exercising (again) and doing certain cleaning chores.

Quote:

Lucky. Most fruit to me...well, the texture is bad, and has a taste like 'sweet dirt' to me. I love fruit flavors when added to different textures, but pure fruit? Er, no. Fruit juices on the other hand...

Quote:

Hmmmm, I'm not familiar with Asian Pears. But yeah, international goods are fun. Too bad there's not really one here in this small city. You live closer to civilization then I do.

Interesting name btw: Jungle Jim's.

Quote:

Rambutans? ...time for google...

Wait...that looks like the next picture.....Ohhhh! So that's why you included the picture. I wasn't sure at first at what I was looking at.

Something from Star Trek I figured....but nope, real fruit.

Quote:

Ahhhh, its been a while since I saw some pomegranate seeds. I remember trying them...not bad, but not great either. But I did like the juice (or blends especially) now and then.

The backing cups do work well, and yeah...you've discovered the joys of sauce containers. (usually just really small tupaware)

But what new bento stuff is arriving?

Otherwise, you do have a nice area of colors there. Even the striated pomegranates have a nice sheen to them.
....and I'm still jealous of the broccoli.

Quote:

Reheating? How?
My high school never offered anything along the lines of heating equipment for lunch.

Good double punch using the beans as both food and sauce for the potatoes.

And the way the cheese is sticking on the burger...was that just a lucky fall, or did you put the cheese on before cutting the burger up?

Quote:
Yum!
I would say so...I had to get a snack while reading this.

Quote:
Let's see. I'm definitely going, I know that, haha.
I don't really know much more than that =P
*hehs* Understood.

Guess I still have it on my brain because I am the main organizer for 5 other people, two of which are coming from 60+ miles away, and the other 3 have never done a Con before...let alone a 'road trip' with others. So I have a lot of work to do.

Quote:
Also, I have a job interview Monday for Target!
??
King's Island closed down for the season?

And you are going to be doing all of what you told me...._and_ a job now?
(still envious that your feet never hurt...maybe shoes got better in the past 20 years)

Glad to hear you have most of your plans set.

But sorry to hear about your sore throat...being that I love ice cream, hearing that you are sick of it means your throat really must not have been doing well.
