Re: Ask Kate
Yay! Today I have a snow day! It's really icy and snowy, so we got off school.
Any more questions for me? Sorry if I skipped over some before, I remember some about how I was, but that's all. If I missed it and it was important, you can ask again =)

Snow day here as well.
Or more to the point: the University actually closed at 3pm today. And it was worth it, took me thrice the amount of time it usually takes to get home. The roads were completely whitecapped with about 2" on them, if not more. Was pretty bad.
Unknown if the University will be open tommorrow.
The last time this happened, not for snow of course, was on Sept. 11th 2001.

Question to Kate:
Do I really have to go through all of my old posts to look for my questions and judge their importance?

Well, most of my lectures are very crucial to my major. The instructor just opens the presentation and literally reads from it, and tells us to 'pay attention'. If you ask me, he stole a PhD.

I'll try to sum it up as quickly as possible.
Genshiken -- An anime about a group of Otaku who form the group: Genshiken
Genshiken - Represents studying of (Japanese) modern visual culture (manga, anime, games, etc)
At my University, the Anime Club was run into the ground, and the past President pissed off important administrators.
To save the group, the name was changed to Genshiken, in order to make it sound more....er....'academic'. (although we actually _do_ learn many things about Japanese culture, and most of us know quite a good deal of Japanese....even though we learned by watching cartoons).
We meet ever Friday Night from 5pm to 10pm, and get to watch anime, Japanese TV shows, and play video games all on a projection screen about 10'X12'.
It was only about 6 of us about half a year ago. Now we are over 20, and seemingly have gained some new (and active) members.
Oddities include: Blowing Bubble guns and makers, making Balloon animals, playing AMVs and other youtube funnies....but most of all:
We shoot the screen with Nerf Darts. Either to accent a scene, or to bear a bad one.
Examples: While hardly anyone fires a Dart when we play: Deathnote.
The firepower is amazing while we try to survive: Princess Tutu
This has now increased to pump-air rifles that fire those BIG nerf darts. Seems the screen can take those just fine too.
Oh yeah...we also MST3K almost every anime as well.
(MST3K = Mystery Science Theatre 3000 -- basically we talk during the shows and mock them, when necessary. Again, we hardly talk during the really good animes like Deathnote)

That sounds very cool. I wish we had a similar club at AUS. All we have here is a bunch of boring cultural and social clubs, with no fun at all.
May I ask how can you find time for doing all of this and not feel any stress?
I've been having a bit of a problem with time managment and I'd appreciate some tips. Thanks in advance

Re: Ask Kate
Haha Yuuji. No, you don't have to go back and look. You can just ask me new questions if you want. If they were super important, you'd probably remember them, so I guess just don't worry about it.
Another snow day today!
On another note, Josh said he found some really great sites on Japan, and got some great ideas of what he wants to do on the trip, and prices and eating places and places to stay. So he's going to hopefully soon run them by his grandparents. I keep pushing him, but he never does =P

*sighs*
*puts on a Miner's hardhat, equipped with a floodlight, and goes back to look*
1) Other then Josh, what have been your focuses lately?
2) Also what are your focuses when you try to relax?
3) Make any snowmen lately?
4) Did you make good use of the Snow days?
5) That includes massive amounts of relaxing.
6) I'll be in Columbus next weekend, do you know of anyplace (Japanese) I should check out?
7) Where is Josh's ticklish spot?
8) Are you fast enough to get to that ticklish spot since Josh is Ambidextrous?
9) Has Josh bought, or plans to buy, a rice cooker spatula in order to play ping pong with?
10) Or are you just going to have him treat you to milk at the onsen?

Oooooo!!
I wanna know! I wanna know!
Then I realize..._I'M_ not going on this trip! Why am I all excited?
But.....so I hear you are trying to push him into talking to his grandparents....yet he won't?
*strokes his non-existent beard*
So what do you plan on doing about that? *loaded question*

...I would tend to agree.
Unfortunately, you have to deal with it. One way or another. Which means more time spent, because another person couldn't handle their responsibilities.
Whenever you have a choice (in this case, you don't) try to stay away from people like that. Even if you have to be a little underhanded.

Our Genshiken is quite unique. Let I was referring too, the previous anime group was run by a complete and utter *******. It was NOT fun to say the least, while most of what we had to watch was what he wanted to watch. Most of us left.
The only reason I even knew the group was reforming, was because I ran into an old friend (he actually still shows up, even though he's graduated) who was bringing his Xbox into the auditorum.
We were only 6 people, fun enough. Then it slowly grew, and most people who came actually had 'common sense' so no formal rules ever had to be adopted. And when about 13 people are acting mature, it has an effect of the even newer people who show up. Which is nice.
So in essence, we lucked out.
Because I can assure you, at my University, the culture and social clubs...well, suck.
But for this group, well I ran into some Breyer 2-quarts down from $6.19 to $2.50 each. So its ice ceam night again!! (Yeah, its winter, but people still wanted some!).
Now I just have to make sure other people bring toppings, bowls, and spoons.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.
That is difficult in two ways:
1) I am feeling stress, just that Genshiken (and writing here) take away that stress. Sometimes a little too much, and it becomes 'escape', but its tolerable.
2) The advice I can give it a bit detailed. And I've already written for about 20 minutes, and need to go finish something else first. Also this response is pretty long. Let me give you a rain check, and i'll put it in later.
....if Kate doesn't *SMACK* me for some of the facetious questions I was asking.

Re: Ask Kate
lol Yuuji! I only remember about half of those! Let's see...
1. School... friends... family... piano have been my focuses other than Josh.
2. When I try to relax.. my focuses are movies/tv and VIDEO GAMES!
3. No =( We've had a TON of snow, but none have been the kind to make snowmen, it's all powdery.
4. Yes I did! I had fun just lying around, but I got a little bored. This is how my weeks have gone/will go.
Sat (Feb 3) - weekend, no school
Sun - weekend, no school
Mon - school
Tues - snow day
Wed - snow day
Thurs - school
Fri - school
Sat (Feb 10) - weekend, no school
Sun - weekend, no school
Mon - school
Tues - snow day
Wed - snow day
Thurs - snow day
Fri - 1/2 day of school
Sat (Feb 17) - weekend, no school
Sun - weekend, no school
Mon - President's day, no school
Then it goes back to normal
lol I haven't had school much these past weeks!
5. Yes I relaxed! I slept lots too, didn't really get out.
6. No, I don't know any Japanese places in Columbus, we don't really go up there much =/
7. He's supposedly ticklish everywhere
8. I can get to it, but for some reason I can't tickle him, lol. He can tickle me though! No fair.
9. lol I have no idea about that!
10. Probably this, lol
Well, it's not that he won't, he just hasn't had time to sit down with them and discuss it, plus his computer has a virus on it, he thinks. He lent it to someone so they could do a report, and when it was returned, it wasn't working right =(
Dark Night2 - I'm on now, lol! Sorry, it hasn't been working lately.
And also Yuuji, would you be at all interested in modding for quarrel? Skylight was asking for reccomendations and I mentioned you, though I said I'm not sure you would want to/have time to. And before you complain/whine, Dark Night2, I mentioned you too.
