Re: Ask Paladin!!!!!!!!
Well I will start a whole new concept in gaming since I will be getting my new Acer Laptop. Just need to squeeze some free time to actually get the darn machine. I will miss my good ole compaq lappy, served me for 6 long years.

Re: Ask Paladin!!!!!!!!
How do you "start a whole new concept in gaming" with a laptop? Unless you can do at least 'Granado Espada' flawlessly I'd say laptops have a long way more to go...
Tried Civ4 again using "Beyond the Sword" improvements. Damn, it's good!!!

Re: Ask Paladin!!!!!!!!
Well I am looking for greatest specs on laptops to start playing stuff on it. Mostly in terms of RAM processor speed but most importantly GFX card.
I have battlefield 2142 and Gears of War which I am waiting to try xD.

Re: Ask Paladin!!!!!!!!
To my knowledge, the capabilities of GPUs on a laptop are limited due to the size of the cards themselves. Although RAM is no longer a major factor in determining processing speed (unless you are a digital graphic artist or 3D modeller/programmer), modern games demand a lot of graphic ability from your PC. And for most part, laptops always come with the proviso that does not recommend the user to play graphic-demanding software.
Well, I'm back from a 36-hour work marathon. Did I miss anything?

Re: Ask Paladin!!!!!!!!
Well if you're talking about memory size of the video card then I don't think thats a problem anymore new technology entails that the GFX cards share with the RAM either completely if its a built in GFX card or partially after the card's dedicated memory is used up.
I'd generally go for a top notch desktop PC with a less price than a laptop but problem is giving to my circumstances I should stay portable.

Re: Ask Paladin!!!!!!!!
True, if you aren't able to go home everyday or at least spend the weekend at home, a laptop is an easier solution. And if you frequent WiFi zones, you may not even need to pay to go online!!!
Still, you'd be relegated to playing games that are at least 3-4 years old if you want to have any decent gaming speeds using the laptops of today. Take for example "Neverwinter Nights" (the first game). Should work like a dream...
But not all stuff can be played though. I'm not too sure whether it's a GPU problem or a DirectX issue, but you sure as heck can't play "Dungeon Keeper 2" on a laptop running Windows Vista. I could be wrong, so I invite anyone to tell me otherwise...
Can't wait for the Iron Man movie... should be out by 30 April, methinks. It's been almost 12 months since I set foot in a movie theatre.

Re: Ask Paladin!!!!!!!!
Well all my friends who bought laptops have removed windows vista and installed Windows XP with SP2 or SP3. All have many complains of its being slow and poor gaming experience.
I really can't wait for many movies Iron Man, Indiana Jones, and many summer 2008 movies. I haven't been to a movie theatre or seen my friends for like eternity now

Re: Ask Paladin!!!!!!!!
Yes, unless you have need of DirectX 10, all other functions of Windows Vista are sublimated by silly slowdowns...
Same thing happened back in '95 with Windows 95 though... If I recall correctly, back then it wasn't until Win98 that the OS got stable.
Watched Iron Man today. Great movie, but not enough suit action in me opinion. And I think I'll buy the soundtrack; I dig something about the theme music's 'metal' quality... pun intended.

Re: Ask Paladin!!!!!!!!
Heh... for this month, the telly's going to feature all three Indiana Jones movies each Wednesday.
But I'll be more interested in the telecast of CSI Las Vegas Season 7... going to watch it all over again. I just find the singing episode really hilarious.
