According to an interview with the creator, the purpose of this series was intended to tell many stories that had little in common but that would all add together to a good total experience, much like a complicated soup.

I'm sure some people found fault with the jarring anachronisms (especially if they forgot the first minute of episode 1), but I've noticed that watching the series again is almost as satisfying as the first time through, which is a good definition of excellence in entertainment.

I really loved watching ALL those short stories. It made
every episode really enjoyable. Long storylines tend to become
boring after a while, but Samurai Champloo episodes were always
new, fresh and fun to watch!

[SPOILER] i mean....wth was with the coin and was every1 stupid enough to not know it?....then they just left for no reason after the long journey...

owellz it was pretty good tho...cept for the ugly prostitutes

ive seen a little bit of this anime. its unique in its art style and its plot line. i enjoy it and im starting to watch it a little bit more.

I am a big fan of Samurai Champloo. I like the style, the characters and the music. I thought the dub version was pretty good too which is saying something.
