I'm Saudi, and my name in Arabic is Mahir. And since Japanese have vowels only at the end of syllables exept for M, N, K & L [ I think... ] , I figured out that my name would be pronounced as Mahiru. And when I searched in a Japanese dictionary, I found out that the word ( Mahiru ) means ( Midday ). So I found it perfect for me since my surname is Sindi, if I ever had the chance to travel to Japan ( which is my dream by the way ) my officially Japanese name will be
Sindi Mahiru and my friends-to-be there would call me Mahiru-san or maybe Mahiru-kun, DAMN! its sooooo cool... I'm sorry

I thought it was only the letter N that didn't need to end in a vowel in Japanese. I had a friend in Japan named Rahman whose name was pronounced as Ro-Ho-Ma-N. I'm not sure if the letter N is indeed the only letter that could end without being followed by a vowel. Do you know of any other consonant that doesn't need to end in a vowel apart from N?

I will never be able to change my name into Japanese as long as there is no equivalent for "hacek"*...

i'm quite sure that "i" doesn't need one....am i wrong?

It's nice for you. I wish to have i cool name, unfortunatly it's not like that. I searched on the net and my name in japannese sucks.

well, my name's Michael

so in Japanese they would say it

Ma - I - Ku - Ru

sounds way too close to Mikuru (TMoHS), makes me uncomfortable

I guess if I shortened it to Mikey it would sound better

Ma - I - Ki

I dont know my name in Japanese, but FiOh sounds like one. Heehee
