depends, what kind of anime do u like and well tell u what people think its the best anime for that genre.
for romance/comedy genre i found suzuka, and shuffle, and love hina are the best ones, for comedy alone full metal panic fumoffu, for action i found samurai champloo interesting, ect.

You can't decide that easily. I think each genre has its bests not the best. For action, I think DBZ. For Harem, Maburaho is good. For Magic, sailormoon takes advanced poistion. This is my opinion. I'm sure other people have different opinions..

well if your into romance i liked suzuka or bloody for elfen lied which is a goody

good all round animes i thinhk would be FLCL but thats for me its funny
