Things that make an anime worth watching

Every successful anime has it's own taste, blend and impact on the viewer, it differs from an anime to another, I've only thought of the following points :

- Always have a good opening/ending theme.
- Always have a good opening/ending music.
- Always include a clue in the opening about what's going to happen in the later episodes.
- change the opening/ending theme and song after atleast 20 episodes.

*this is about the outer matters...

- leave a mysterious charecter on the side to change the events when needed.
- always let the hero cry at the fresh episodes.
- the evil charecter must run after a big fight with the hero.
- never let the hero die, otherwise...the anime won't be worth watching.

*this is about the inner....

I've only thought of these things.....post suggestions please

I totally agree with ya, that it has to have a good OP, ED and theme song and that stuff. But I also think that it has to have a good commercial for a new anime, and have a interesting/good story that will catch many peoples interest This is what I could think of for now

for me ... story line and character make me interested or not.
But ... happiness among watching episode by episode keep me follow them.

I never thought of that before. But your right, most of my favorite animes had at least one good song.

Hmmm. As long as they completely telegraph it. I do enjoy re-watching certain animes and see foreshadowing that I never noticed before. But when its blatantly telegraphs, I hate it.

I never mind fresh music. But when the next songs...well, suck, I kinda hate that.

A Deus Ex Machina? Hmmm, not so sure about this. Sometimes its done well, sometimes its a cheat.

Letting the hero show emotion (non-machismo emotion) is good. But, er...what is a 'fresh' episode? I never heard of this term.

Actually I just want the evil character to get skewered. I hate how they _always_ can escape.

- never let the hero die, otherwise...the anime won't be worth watching.

Letting the hero die usually does not make one want to rewatch a series. But sometimes, if the story is good enough, it is worth it. Especially because it makes the anime's where the hero lives, that much better (see you later, space cowboy)

On my own personal note, I hate how secondary and tertiary characters are always complete cannon fodder. To make the hero more 'hero-y' or the evil character more 'evil-y', these red-shirts drop like rocks. I'm quite tired of it. Becuase you know the main characters are usually fine (Gundam See nonwithstanding) I usually try to cheer for, and usually char more for, secondary character. Because their lives aren't a given.

for me its nice animation style, storyline and i think the music its important too but not that relevant to the actual story

i think a very important thing w/ anime is tat it has good chrarcter design, plot (VERY IMPORTANT!!!), and NOT be repetive.

A good story line is very important and the anime should have some scenes that are touching or exciting.

for me, it would be the endings of every episodes, they usually put a "to be continued" that makes anime very addicting and worth watchign.
