DragonBall Z: Live Movie - LONG POST

Release Date:
The Movie was set to come out in the summer of 2004. But apparently, due to some casting problems, it may com out in early 2005.

The title would most obviously be DragonballZ, but FOX is leaning toward DragonballZ: Unlimited, or Dragonball Z: Fight for Mankind.


Director and script writer:
The Director: Roland Emmerich (Universal Soldier, Stargate, Independance Day, Godzilla, The Patriot).

Script Writer: The script was written be Tedi Sarafian (who wrote the script for Tank Girl and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines)

DBZ creator Akira Toriyama was hired as the films consultant but wanted too much control over it so FOX made him sing a new contract which basically gave him the boot.

The Cast:
Some actors have signed contracts and some have simply said they would do it. Some characters have not been cast yet but those who have are subject to change. Remember, anything can happen between now and filming. Other actors have been cast but they are all unknowns and I don’t know who they will play.

Goku: Hugh Jackman was recently fired from this part due to him holding up production. He's the reason why the movie won't come out until 2005, so Roland Emmerich fired Hugh Jackman, and now who will fill his shoes is a big question.

Vegeta: Ray Park (Sleepy Hallow, Star Wars: Episode 1, X-Men). Ray was their first choice, but then they gave it to Guy Pearce. Then they gave it back to Ray Park.

Piccolo: Chris Judge played on star gate

Raditz: Jason Bateman (Teen Wolf Too, Necessary Roughness, The Sweetest Thing). This guy has mostly been around T.V Shows.

Nappa: Bill Goldberg (Universal Soldier: The Return, WWE Wrestling) This is deffinatly a good choice for Nappa, cause he looks exactly like him.

Tien: Orlando Bloom (Black Hawk Down, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean). In my opinion, he might be a good choice for Tien; it will be interesting to see Orlando with three eyes.

Bulma: Jessica Alba (P.U.N.K.S, Idle Hands, Dark Angel). And yes she will have blue hair. MAN SHES HOT!!!!!!!!

Chi Chi: Eliza Dushku ( MAN SHES HOT )


Puarr, Oolong, King Kai: These guys will be CGI, and don't worry, Puarr Oolong will only have small cameos. The voice actors from the show will do the voices for these characters on the movie.


FOX is shooting for a PG-13 rating and a running time of somewhere between 3 to 4 hours. They are hoping for the DBZ movie saga to be 4 episodes long (4 movies). They will most likely be The Saiyan Saga, The Frieza Saga, The Android Cell Saga, and the Majin Buu Saga. George Lucas' CGI Company ILM has signed a contract to do the special effects so expect some kick ass action scenes and imagery.



The hair will be very unique. It will be relatively normal but still have "bounce". Frieza will be mentioned but he will not make an appearance. Goku's uniform will be blue and not orange. Sets are currently being built at the FOX Studios in Sydney, Australia.

Plot Outline:

When a mysterious being with superhuman powers abducts Son Goku's son, he and his hated enemy must band together to defeat this threat. But when this encounter ends with Goku's death, Piccolo learns of a greater threat: two more aliens are coming to Earth, and they are even stronger then he is. Armed with this knowledge, Piccolo takes it upon himself to train Goku's son and warn the Earth's warriors. However, Goku's journey does not end with his own death...


The Plot: (WARNING: SPOILERS)

The movie starts off on the Saiyan's home planet. Bardock sends his son out into space along with several other Saiyan babies in their separate pods, all heading towards a different planet. Shortly after being launched they are all blasted into dust and only Goku's (or Kakorot's) pod escapes and soon after crashes on Earth. He lands near a Buddhist Temple where he is raised to be a kindhearted boy by all of the monks. Years pass and the monks are unable to find an outlet for Goku's inhuman strength so they send him off to train with and old martial arts master, Master Roshi. There he meets Krillan and they become good friends. Roshi teaches them to use energy as a weapon (energy blasts) and all seems well until one night when Goku sees the full moon and transforms into a giant monkey, or Oozaru. Goku goes about his rampage until Krillan blasts his tail off and he returns to normal.

During that same time another alien ship crashes on Earth. This time it's Piccolo and he's carrying the Dragonballs with him. Now at this point Piccolo is one bad mofo and his only desire is to conquer Earth. By doing so he hunts down the strongest fighters on the planet and kills them, but little does he know the two strongest fighters are kids. Piccolo causes a good bit of damage that attracts the media and once Goku and Krillan get wind of it they head off to face him against Master Rosh’s wishes. A huge battle takes place between the three fighters and at the end Krillan jumps in front of a blast to save Goku's life and dies. Goku freaks out; his tail grows back, transforms into the Oozaru again, and nearly kills Piccolo. But Piccolo finds out his tail is his weakness and he cuts it off, returning Goku back to normal. Goku is out cold and it looks like Piccolo will take the win. But Roshi shows up and stops Piccolo from killing Goku. Roshi is ready to hand Piccolo's ass to him but he lets him go in exchange for knowledge of the Dragonballs. Once Goku awakes Master Roshi explains to him what happened and he decides to find all the Dragonballs to wish Krillan back to life.

Unfortunately Master Roshi lives like a hermit and has very little money and resources to do such a thing. It would end right there but luckily Roshi is friends with billionaire scientist and owner of Capsule Corp., Dr. Brief. Brief decides to finance their adventure and soon enough they, along with the daughter of Dr. Brief, Bulma, are on their way across the world to find the Dragonballs. They are all eventually found and the eternal dragon Shenlong is summoned to grant their wish. Krillan is revived.

10 years pass and Goku is now married to Chichi and has a 7 year old son, Gohan. Goku and Krillan have signed up to compete in The World Martial Arts Tournament. Once they arrive at the tournament they see that Bulma has signed up too. As the tournament begins and progresses the only fighters left in the final rounds are Goku, Krillan, Bulma, Yamcha, Tien, and a mystery fighter. As the final rounds are about to begin five pods crash into the stadium. In them are Raditz and four other Saiyans. Raditz tells his brother of his past and what he is. A huge brawl between the tournament fighters and the Saiyans begin. All of the Saiyans are killed in the fight except for Raditz who snatches Gohan and flies off with him. Goku and the mystery fighter chase him down into a barren desert land. The mystery fighter reveals himself to be Piccolo. A battle between the three insures until Piccolo finishes off Raditz but not without killing Goku in the process. As Goku lay on the ground dying Piccolo promises him that he will find the Dragonballs and wish him back so they can have their rematch. Raditz transmits this to Freiza's mother ship and tells Piccolo that his team mates are coming and will destroy Earth. Piccolo is major pissed off and blows Raditz away (cool). Once the rest of the gang discovers what happened, Krillan, Yamcha, and Tien begin their training with Master Roshi and another martial arts master, Mr. Popo. (Don't ask me how they came up with that one.) And Goku trains with Kai (aka: King Kai) in the afterlife. Meanwhile Piccolo takes Gohan with him in order to train him. He believes that Gohan could be the strongest one of them all.

Back at the mother ship Vegeta and Nappa are ordered to go to Earth and retrieve Kakorot and the Dragonballs. It takes two years for them to reach Earth and during that time everything pretty much happens the same way it did on the show. Everyone has grown much stronger, especially Gohan. The Dragonballs are gathered and used to bring Goku back to life. However it was too late because the Saiyans have already reached Earth and Goku must run through Snake Way before he can join his friends. The big battle starts and Yamcha, Tien, and Piccolo are all killed by Nappa. Goku finally arrives and quickly disposes of Nappa. Before he goes one on one with Vegeta he tells Gohan and Krillan to leave. They do as he says and the classic battle begins. Goku vs. Vegeta. Once Vegeta finds that Goku is too much for him to handle he transforms into an Oozaru and nearly kills him. But Krillan and Gohan are back at ground zero and once Gohan transforms as well it's an all out giant monkey brawl between Gohan and Vegeta (cool again). Vegeta rips off Gohan's tail and Krillan blasts off Vegeta's tail. They both return to normal and Krillan gives Goku the Sensu Beans. Goku is now back to his full strength but Gohan is badly injured. Vegeta tricks Goku into thinking he killed his son. Goku goes mad with rage and shows hints of something much greater than an Oozaru. And then it might have something like to be continued or something like that. You will just have to wait and see..

On September 24, adult film star Asia Carrera stated in the news bulletin section of her personal web site that she had been offered a part in the upcoming Dragonball Z live action movie. The producers had contacted her about a part in the movie(possibly Chi-chi), but she had to turn them down because she and her husband were 4 months pregnant. "I hate having to turn down cool mainstream work offers because I'm too fat to go out and play!!" she said. She plans to name her daughter Catalina.

hello all, i hope that you all are fine and that you are getting ready for thanksgiving holidays. i just wanted you to know that i spoke with ben ramsey friday and we talked concerning the script for "Dragonball"

I want to clear up something, for all the rumors that you have heard concerning the film starting from the saiyan saga, are not true. this is not true, the film will start from where it should start. "Dragonball" the film will center around Bulma, Master Roshi, Piccollo, and Goku. It will be very much like Star Wars as he told me during our conversation, and along the way you will meet krillian, he will wed Chi-Chi, and you will also meet yamcha, and Oolong will not be as he is in the manga, nor will yamcha's cat. it will be like a mischievious cat. So, it will start from like around the beginnning of Dragonball, and minus the rr army, it will go onto the Picollo saga.

It will be a great film, Ben Ramsey did alot of research on the film, so you all will be in for a great treat.


I would just like to confirm one thing, that I actually did talk with Ben Ramsey last friday. I went to his office and we spoke concerning the script to Dragonball. I was thinking that this was a site that was dedicated to recieving official news regarding the progress and the release of the Dragonball project?

We both talked briefly concerning the script for the Dragonball movie. He stated to me that, "Well, I was approached by people at FOX to do the project. I'd never heard of Dragonball, but I went ahead and signed on to write the script. I have to admit that it is a very obscure universe, but I was able to do some extensive research on the anime, and I came up with a concept that I thought would work for the first film. The script centers around the characters of Goku, Bulma, Master Roshi, and Piccolo. I thought it was fair to start from the beginning of the saga. I didn't want to do CGI characters, and there want be any like talking cats or anything of that fashion. I made Yamcha's cat like a mischievious cat, and I made oolong a little different from how he is in the anime. Along the way in addition to these four characters Krillian, Tien, Yamcha, Chi-Chi are introduced, but the film will center around those four characters mentioned earlier. It will be close to like Star Wars. I finished the script a couple of months ago and a few execs at FOX have read it and liked it, but we're waiting to get the official green light from Gianapolis, who is the head guy that runs FOX."

We talked a little more about the film, and I'm not sure, but he may also write the sequal also. He went back home to Pennsylvnia this week, so I want see him until next week. This is not a rumor it is official news and I just wanted to bring this board up on the progress of the Dragonball script. The script is done, and it starts from the Dragonball saga, and they are awaiting official word from the head man at FOX.

I also talked with Brian Singer about the new Superman movie if you would like some details concerning that. I saw Jude Law go into his office at Warner Bros. last week, and there was speculation that he was going to play General Zoid, but I'm not aware of the validity of this rumor. I did speak with Brian Singer before he left for Australia.

So you have the news of two of the biggest film franchises coming out in the next four years. I would like to repeat that this isn't a rumor and that it is official news. Perhaps Ben Ramsey may be forced to write another script, I don't know, but that is the script that he turned in and in his office he has DVD and mangas of the Dragonball saga, so he felt it appropriate to start from the beginning. I'll talk to him again next week, and if I get more news, I'll let this board know, and if not next week, then sometime in the foreseeable future.

Variety had previously advanced that Ben Ramsey was writing the plot for the movie and Peter Kang has confirmed it. TheaterScope has done some investigation work and can assure that this project is in fact 'on track'. The first two movies will be produced in a Lord-of-the-Rings-style and Fox plans to shoot both films in the US and Mexico.

'We're trying not to rush the production, so we expect the movie to come out in 2007. We want to make a huge epic and rushing things would be bad for the success of the movie.', said Kang. He also revealed that ILM is heading for the special effects and animation. 'The special effects will have a major role in the production and we are counting on our friends of ILM after the last StarWars movie is released.'

What happens a little

I will tell you that the first draft that i read that
goku is a teenager, the equivalent of a senior in high
school, that bulma is the equivalent of a freshman in
college, and that yamcha is around his mid-twenties.

i don't want to give out too much information, because
that is the nature of the business. I can tell you
Picollo is the main villain and that he is a complete
badasss in the script. i mean he really is. i want to
tell you more information, but i just can't. that is
the nature of the business.i can tell you this emperor
pilaf, shou and mai play significant roles in the
script also. Alot of fights and battle scenes.i will
tell you that it begins in new york city, and upon
picollo's arrival the entire world shifts to the world
of dragonball that includes west city, and as in the
cartoon picollo is put in the small shrine and kept
away for 1,000 years until he is awaken again. thus
begins the movie.

I want to tell you more and share more infor, but i
can't. i can only tell you that.

i read in the best of dragonballz magazine that leonardo decaprio was gonna play trunks O.O which is amazingly wrong because that leonardo freak is not hot!!!!!

i swear i'm gonna kill him if he plays in the movie!

i also saw that Carmon Diaz was playing Andriod 18 which is a perfect fit!

there is not going 2 be a DBZ live action movie, it won't b viable, yet alone profitable! and if even 1 or 2 of those big actors come on board it'll cost an arm and a leg, and not one we can regenerate like piccolo!

honestly rumors, are just that ...rumors, Fox has denied it, and so have all the actors (about being asked 2 do those role) it is just made up by sum1 with too much time on their hands :P
