Oh, no. I've just mentioned it before, that i forgot to re-clarrify over time (I probably haven't explained the term in 5+ months)
I'll try to sum it up as quickly as possible.
Genshiken -- An anime about a group of Otaku who form the group: Genshiken
Genshiken - Represents studying of (Japanese) modern visual culture (manga, anime, games, etc)
At my University, the Anime Club was run into the ground, and the past President pissed off important administrators.
To save the group, the name was changed to Genshiken, in order to make it sound more....er....'academic'. (although we actually _do_ learn many things about Japanese culture, and most of us know quite a good deal of Japanese....even though we learned by watching cartoons).
We meet ever Friday Night from 5pm to 10pm, and get to watch anime, Japanese TV shows, and play video games all on a projection screen about 10'X12'.
It was only about 6 of us about half a year ago. Now we are over 20, and seemingly have gained some new (and active) members.
Oddities include: Blowing Bubble guns and makers, making Balloon animals, playing AMVs and other youtube funnies....but most of all:
We shoot the screen with Nerf Darts. Either to accent a scene, or to bear a bad one.
Examples: While hardly anyone fires a Dart when we play: Deathnote.
The firepower is amazing while we try to survive: Princess Tutu
This has now increased to pump-air rifles that fire those BIG nerf darts. Seems the screen can take those just fine too.
Oh yeah...we also MST3K almost every anime as well.
(MST3K = Mystery Science Theatre 3000 -- basically we talk during the shows and mock them, when necessary. Again, we hardly talk during the really good animes like Deathnote)
