Default [Rules] Quarrel.net Forum Rules

The following rules apply to all forum sections in Quarrel.net

Introduction

These rules apply to any users who are registered members of the Quarrel.net Gaming Network. All rules stated below affect all of the following, but not limited to, forums (except SPAM), user profiles, signatures, games, and anything else that a member can type, post picture, or link to and is viewed by all. This holds true unless otherwise stated in the rule itself. Ignorance of the rules is not tolerated and every user is assumed to have read and understood the rules before displaying anything publicly.

The Rules

The rules stated below are what to be followed at all times anywhere in the Quarrel.net Gaming Network that allows for public viewing. This rules are set in place to keep the e-community clean and friendly. Violation of these rules will result in a punishment of equal or greater value dependent on what was violated.

1) Offensive Manner – Members may not post anything offensive anywhere on the Quarrel.net Gaming Network. Offensive material is, but not limited to: Nudity; harassment; sexual harassment; and racial, hate, explicit threats or speech.

2) Swearing – Profanity in any manner will not be tolerated. It is not needed and it makes the board look trashy. Also some parents may not want their children reading such words. Profanity is using shit, f-word, or bitch in a sentance. It's also cussing to combine these words with other words. Ass isn't a cuss word until it is combined with another word (example: ass + hole = asshole)."

2.1) Censor Bypassing – Attempting to substitute other characters for a profane word to bypass the literal meaning of the swearing rule will count as a violation of said rule. If the member wants to use profanity please obscure the whole word. An example would be: ****ing. This is the only way, but it is still frowned upon.

3) Trolling – This is an action that is meant to annoy or offend other members. Trolling is also defined as a way to provoke or incite flaming and flame wars, making misleading topics, asking obviously useless questions, and posting false information as fact.

4) Flaming – Insulting others by the use of name calling, direct insults, offensive orders, insinuations or insults to one’s family.

5) Disruptive Posting – This is making posts that are hard to read or understand. Types of ways to do this, and are not limited to include: Large blank or content free posts, massive bumping (posting in many old topics), spamming, multiple identical or close to identical posts in the same topic or multiple topics, hard to read topics (All caps, alternating caps, no spaces, no or excessive punctuation, 1337 speak, or the like), post counting, or huge fonts. Exceptions to the rule are those stated in the first post of the thread or the title itself calling for such acts.

5.1) Multi-thread Spam – This includes things like posting a one liner in many threads of a single forum. This is common in many forums of the network, such as the Inferno Discussion board. This should not be tolerated on the basis that it is probably useless posting that is only being done to gain a currency of some sort either intentionally or unintentionally. Reasonable judgment by anyone in the e-community may spot this and determine if a member is abusing the board in this way. A common clue to Multi-thread spam is if a lot of the lasts posts in threads were done by the same user. This however is not the way to judge if said person is multi-thread spamming, just a hint that it might exist.

6) Spoilers – Revealing the ending or key points to a movie, riddle (when told not to), videogame, book, or anything with a storyline without warning. Posting of plot spoilers can be done in one of two ways. The member may use [ color=red]Spoilers[/ color] before they post the spoiler and then leaving several blank lines (but not an excessive amount). A member may also use [ color=red]Spoilers[/ color] and then [ color=white]INSERT SPOIER HERE[/ color]. These two ways are the only exceptions to the rule. (The spaces for the tags should be taken out of course)

7) Off-topic – Posting something that clearly doesn’t match the description of the title of the thread or forum. This should not be a big problem and wouldn’t result in much of an offense unless done so multiple times on purpose. CLARIFICATION: There are many sub-topics per every topic, so the only real way something is off-topic is if it has no relation, what-so-ever with the topic at hand. Example: A topic on videogames could also have discussions on TV or other types of entertianment that are related to the subject matter at hand.

8) Impersonation – A serious offense in which a user creates an account name similar to another member’s name to solely mock or falsely claim to be the true member. Impersonating a Moderator or an Administrator will be dealt with harshly.

Signature

All signatures must comply with the rules stated in the rules and with any of the following:

1) 1(one) Banner or Picture is allowed in the signature.
2) Said banner or Picture must be no bigger than 700(width) by 150(length/tall)
3) Banner or picture may be increased to 750x200 if no text is in the signature
4) No huge fonts
5) No big spaces
6) Signature may not hinder the ease of viewing threads

Sub-forum Special Rules

5) The reward must not go against the general forum rules.

10) All completed contest threads can be reported to have them closed.
11) Riddles with prizes should be posted in the riddle section. Don’t post in both.

~The Riddle Section~
Things to follow in making and/or taking part in a riddle thread:

1) The riddle must be solvable.
2) No other discussion, but the discussion of the riddle is allowed in the thread.
3) No private discussions in the riddle thread.
4) Riddles with prizes should be stated in the Thread title. An example would be: PRIZE: This Riddle is Hard
5) All other general forum rules apply.
6) All completed riddles can be reported to have them closed.
7) Riddles with prizes must follow the same prize guidelines as a normal contest would.

Strict Regluations
This section is a guideline for how the rules should be delt with. Some things should be allowed to be let go (Example:a minor flame here and there would be okay), while others should be strictly enforced. It'll either be Strict or Judgement (using one's best judgement of the situation since all cases aren't too bad). If any rule has a subpart to it (like 4.1) then they fall under that rule (unless otherwise stated above).

Rule 1) Judgement
Rule 2) Strict
Rule 3) Judgement
Rule 4) Judgement
Rule 5) Strict
Rule 6) Strict
Rule 7) Judgement
Rule 8) Strict
Signature) Strict
Contest Sub) Strict
Riddle Sub) Strict

Mainly the ones that are judgement are that way to allow opinions to be said with some liberty. If it causes too much of a problem it should be delt with, otherwise a few places here and there won't hurt anything.
